Michael R. Weeks, Ph.D. leads the strategy and leadership practice areas for Maverick. He has an extensive background in those areas both from a 21-year career in the United States Air Force, and as a leading scholar in his field. Mike has consulted and conducted research with numerous Fortune 500 clients including General Dynamics, BAE Systems, Computer Sciences Corporation, IBM and Astra Zeneca. His consulting activities focus on guiding firms through organizational change and strategy development processes in dynamic environments.

 

Before joining Maverick, Mike was an active-duty Air Force pilot for over 20 years. He retired at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in 2007 after a career flying C-141s, T-38s, and T-3s. In addition, he completed two tours as a management professor at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. His experience includes leadership positions in numerous military units. In 2005 he led the Air Force humanitarian response to the Pakistan earthquake disaster.

 

In addition to a successful military career, Mike is an active scholar and teacher. He is an Associate Professor of Management at the University of Tampa and teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in strategy, leadership and innovation. Previously, he developed and delivered executive education courses for the University of Tampa as the senior associate director of the TECO Center for Leadership. Mike has published academic articles in journals such as the California Management Review, The International Journal of Innovation Management, and Business Horizons.

 

Mike holds Doctor of Philosophy and Master of Science degrees in management from the University of Oxford. He also earned MBA and Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degrees from Auburn University.
